CONNECT 3
The initial shape of the building was modified and oriented towards south and balconies were included to provide shade during summer. Also, the shape of both buildings create a visual and physical connection to the viaduct that allows visitors and residents to access the park. This set back also allows the buildings to have green spaces and a better connection to the street and the viaduct.
The main building, other than being residential, is linked to the one next to it by extending into it and creating a performance space for the creative studios in that building. The extension is enclosed but can display the events on the outside through a screen out side of the building that can be seen from across the street or the viaduct. The main building also highlights the connection between these buildings with a glass atrium in the middle. This atrium serves for stack ventilation and light source.
The concept of the buildings are about connecting the community, residents, and visitors through public/commercial areas that lead to the rail park.
