ANNOUNCE

The site of this project takes place in Olde Kensington, Philadelphia. The idea of it was to create a community of makers, people who creates or invents something, using row houses for each maker to live, work, and sell their creations. At the same time, the row houses had to share a space with its neighbor to create a stronger bond.

Makers usually make odd things so I decided that the person who will live in my row house will be a doorbell maker. This maker creates custom doorbells for its clients and tries to keep alive the tradition of using them. Because doorbells announce the presence of someone in your door, I decided to make the exterior of the front completely closed so the doorbell could do its function. The exterior language of the house intends to resemble the inside of a doorbell, which means the circuits and cables connected to each other.

The principal room is the sound experience, it uses ropes that go down from the ceiling to be pulled and make different sounds for your doorbell; the mechanism of this is to resemble the first doorbells that were actual bells pulled by a rope to make them sound. The room followed by this one is the visual experience, where you can see the different shapes and forms of doorbells done so the client can have an idea of what they want.
